Class of 2008
Lunar Moon Goddesses
It’s been 15 years since we walked across that stage, turned those tassels, climbed the stairs in Main’s tower to ring that bell, had a late-night snack in Mollie’s, accidentally walked through a film-shoot on our way to class in Buttrick, and stormed the quad at midnight painting our ASC world blue for one last Black Cat. For four years of our lives, we grew alongside each other – pushing each other to think deeply and challenging our ideas of the world. We formed bonds that would extend far beyond the years we spent studying together in McCain or creating art together in Dana. Learning with and from each other as Lunas was an incredible honor. Watching the mark that the Lunas continue to make on the world since 2008 has been the journey of a lifetime.
Lunas – It’s time to return. It’s time for Agnes Scott to (re)experience “A Luna Landing.” Join us as we celebrate our 15th year reunion at Alumnae Weekend May 19-21, 2023.
There are so many events planned for the weekend. Here are some of the highlights:
Get those blue books ready and those self-scheduled exams planned because the Lunas are heading back to class on Friday, May 19 at 2:15pm and 3:15pm. All that learning probably has made us parched! Did someone say “Happy Hour?” Get a chance to catch up with your favorite professor and meet some who have joined the college since the Lunas departed at a Meet the Faculty Reception on Friday, May 19 at 4pm. After mingling at the Millennials Party from 6:30pm – 8:30pm, we better start warming up our vocal cords and reviewing the words of “Poor ‘Lil” because we know the Lunas will show up at everyone’s favorite Hub Sing starting at 8:30pm.
We hope you get some rest Friday night because Saturday is jam-packed! At 9am, we have some ‘08 is Great business to take care of at our Class Meeting. Then, we’ll don our BLUE and head over to Alumnae Convocation at 10:30am – keep those tissues handy as bringing 50+ years of Scotties together can get emotional (also loud). Spend the afternoon learning about what’s going on at our beloved Agnes now through the “Agnes Scott Evolving” conversation at 1:30pm. Join an affinity group gathering from 2:30pm – 4:30pm. Go on a tour of the President’s Home led by none other than President Zak herself from 2:30 – 5pm. Finally, we can’t wait to see you at 7pm for “A Luna Landing,” our class party under the gorgeous stars of Agnes Scott.
We can’t wait to reconnect at the place that got to experience the original “Luna Landing” – our dear Agnes Scott College. Please join our “Luna Landing” us we celebrate each other and our 15th Year Reunion on May 19 – May 21, 2023.
Hard to believe we’re old enough to have graduated from college 15 years ago! And yet, here we are, coming up on our 15 year reunion this spring at Agnes Scott. I’ve so missed seeing you all and look forward to catching up with everyone IRL this May.
In preparation for our reunion, we hope to host a few events to connect our class ahead of our time together for Alumnae Weekend so be on the lookout for some exciting activities in the coming months. We hope to have one virtual event before we close out 2022 and at least one in the Spring ahead of our time together in May. Be on the lookout for information via email and on social media soon!
Speaking of the big event, our Reunion Chairs Emilie Jones and Erin Linsenmeyer and the Reunion Planning committee are working on some fantastic plans for Alumnae Weekend. An exciting addition to our time together is the ability to stay on campus. I know I’m excited to be back at Agnes and be on the same floor as some of my favorite people again – this time with some (legal) adult beverages! Details will be shared in the Alumnae Weekend information in the next few months so be on the lookout and get registered early to ensure you have the best on-campus experience possible.
You should have received a letter from Liz Hartnett Santamaria and Lyndsey McAdams in support of our Giving Campaign and our goals ahead of Alumnae Weekend. Our goal is to secure $15,000 from just shy of 50 donors – we got this! Let’s show the other classes the competitive spirit that carried us during our time at Agnes!
We also had the opportunity to review our class contact list and we were sad to see that some of our fellow classmates may not be getting updates from the college (or from your class officers!). It’s exciting to see how many Lunas have moved around the country and the world – but please be sure to provide us with your updated email address and physical address so we can keep you up to date on the latest ahead of Alumnae Weekend! If you would like to update your information or a fellow classmate’s, please reach out to Sabrina Cintron and Dominique Khan. They also would love to hear about any personal or professional news you’d like to share with us – so drop them a line so we can celebrate life’s adventures with you!
Lastly, I’ve been fortunate to live near Agnes Scott since graduation and keep a pulse on things on the ground at the school. It seems like it’s an exciting time to be a Scottie with the continuation of exploration and service as part of the core curriculum for all students and the expansion of the graduate programs is a fantastic addition for the college. The college and its leadership is also responding to input from the staff, faculty, and student body as it relates to its future and investment in the college. I’m glad to hear that the college’s mission remains a pillar of strength and driving force towards the continued growth of the college and its community.
So, mark your calendars for May 19-21 and I look forward to seeing you in May!
